On Feb 12 1908, six cars lined up in Times Square to contest the ‘Great Race’ - a car race organised by the New York Times and Le Matins, a French daily newspaper. This perilous undertaking was at a time when the car was ‘next to a woman, the most capricious thing on earth’, - and the crews were attempting to drive around the world !
The Curtis Australia ‘Great Race’ pen features a myriad of fine detail in solid sterling silver. From the three cityscapes around the cap of New York, Moscow and Paris with miniature spark plug and wrench, to the exquisite detail of the cars themselves, this pen is a rich decorative testament to the penmaker’s art.
