Hallmarks—what do they mean ?

All of our pens and luxury gifts that are created in solid sterling silver or gold carry hallmarks. Read on to find out what they mean and why they are important to you

Every Curtis Australia pen made in sterling silver or gold carries three distinct hallmarks:

The koala is the registered makers mark of Curtis Australia and is your guarantee that the piece has been produced by us.

The 925 is for sterling silver—this mark can only be applied to articles that are solid sterling silver, not plated or coated articles.

The kangaroo is the mark of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia. The Guild lays down strict standards that it’s members must adhere to. Every maker belonging to the Guild must register their individual mark, no two marks are the same - and the punches that we use to mark our work can only be supplied by the Guild.

The three marks are your guarantee that your pen has been made by skilled craftsmen to laid down standards, and is made of either solid precious silver or gold.

Make sure you look for those hallmarks.
