The Award Winning Race to the North Pole Pen

The ‘Race to the Pole’ is a Curtis Limited Edition Collector’s pen. Crafted in solid sterling silver, this highly detailed pen celebrates the discovery of the North Pole—an amazing feat. In 1909, after seven expeditions and twenty three years, American Robert Peary

and his trusted companion Matthew Henson finally made the Pole.

The ‘Race to the Pole’ pen includes a beautifully worked relief of the SS Roosevelt, Peary’s specially commissioned vessel built to survive the constant pressure of the Arctic ice.

Other panels to the barrel illustrate the dog sleds used by the expedition, as well as the names of the four Inuits who also reached the roof of the world.

Why ‘The Race to the Pole’?

Peary, Henson and their crew were racing against other explorers, most notably Cook, who controversially claimed the prize for himself only to be discredited later by those travelling with him.
